Who I Help.

To simplify it, I’m a relationally-focused psychotherapist who holds space for people who want a ‘wise’ co-explorer and co-navigator walking alongside them.

I am a human scientist practitioner who is a champion for our profession and for you, the professional. I help psychologists bring their hearts, their creativity and their spirit to their evidence based practice. To be humans first, therapists second. To integrate their ‘parts’ and create a foundation of courage, inner knowing and trust that brings a steadiness and ease to their practice.

And I’m also an analytical assessment psychologist who thoroughly enjoys making sense of people through interviews, psychometric testing, observation, consultation with others and review of vast quantities of information, all for the purpose of helping someone more important than I, make a significant decision.

All of these ‘parts’ of me sit within the reality that I am above all else, human first.

So, with all that, here’s the crux of what I offer as a Supervisor, Mentor/Guide and Trainer;

  • Reflective supervision for trauma, perinatal and peri/menopausal presentations AND those who are ready to integrate the models they prefer AND also integrate their personal and professional selves in the therapy space (all of which helps therapy feel ‘natural’) #humanscientistpractitioner.

  • Immersive experiences that support practitioners to connect their heart, mind, body and spirit with their psychological knowledge and skill #befullyhuman.

  • Consultation and training for practitioners who CHOOSE to work in the child protection or Family Court worlds. #specialpeople.

  • Consultation for practitioners who want to better understand and support women as they navigate the peri/post-menopausal years, including those who also identify as ADHDers (because the combination of this life stage along with the beauty of the ADHD brain can be quite a ‘delight’). #mypeople.

  • Training for you and a group of others (whether you gather a bunch of colleagues or you bring your group practice team together) on topics like ; Mental Health and Hormones, The Menopausal Years : The Overlooked (yet Significant) Life Stage, The Psychology and Neuroscience of Menopause and Menopause : The Perfect Stage for Healthy Adult and Happy Child. #obsessedwithallthisstuff.

  • Support, guidance and supervision (and a place to freak out) for private practitioners who had hoped to avoid anything remotely legal/Court related but find themselves facing exactly that. #youcangetthroughthis

I am clinically, forensically and psychotherapy trained.

I‘ve supported many practitioners in this space. And there are countless more to help.

My Career Summary.

I have been working as a Clinical and Forensic Psychologist for nearly 25 years now (well a few less years than that as an endorsed psych) and over that time have developed a few niche areas including; child protection (parenting capacity assessments) and family court (family court ordered therapy, single expert work), trauma (childhood/adolescence and emergency services/military trauma), perinatal mental health, parenting and peri/menopause and the intersecting experiences of peri/menopause and ADHD.

My modalities include Gestalt psychotherapy (4-year training program), psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, schema therapy, sensorimotor psychotherapy and body-based interventions like yoga therapy (I’m a qualified yoga teacher).

I’ve worked in corrections, prisons, private hospitals, child protection agencies and university. But most significant portion of my career has been spent in private practice, initially as a subcontractor in a group practice and then a solo practitioner and then as a group practice owner. However, after 18 years at the helm of Perth Psychology Collective, I sold the practice to an amazing colleague so that I could simplify my life. It worked! I have more professional and personal breathing space than I have in a long time.

I’ve been supervising 4+2’s since we had a state-based registration system which was over 13 years ago! I’ve continued to supervise 4+2’s and also since supervised 5+1 as well as Master of Psychology students on practicum (Clinical, Counselling and Forensic) and Registrars and colleagues within my practice and external to my practice. I also had the wonderful opportunity to work as a Clinical Supervisor at the Edith Cowan University, Masters of (Clinical) Psychology, Student Practicum Clinic.

While I’ve supervised many practitioners in relation to perinatal and trauma presentations, I’ve also delivered a LOT of training and supervision in the area of forensic psychology.

Take a look at my Training Page and if any of these speak to your interests or needs, register for one of my webinars or workshops or book a supervision session with me. Let me help create a sense of steadiness and ease in your practice.
